Harvesting the urban landscape for the remenants of the American dream
I use traditional as well as alternative materials and processes in the creation of the work. Incorporating them to create works that are haunting and whimsical, familiar and at the same time unusual. Much of the material I use would be considered waste, useless, unwanted, or worthless. The use of recyclable material is not a environmental statement but a direct link to my habits and a belief that life consists of not what you have so much as what you are left with. This work is chaotic and does not fit into nice neat little boxes, this chaos is intensified by the environment not limited by it.
My work has been informed by artists like Paul McCarthy, Robert Rauschenberg and Marcel Duchamp. |
Charade of Creation: Installations. These Instillation's range in size and are evolving, they are comprised of individual sculptural pieces or what I call characters. Each character has a distinct personality and these personalities interact with each other to create situations, Weather its the color, posture, material or size the sculptures interact without words leaving their intentions unknown to the viewer. There are times when I too am merely a viewer or a participant in this charade of creation. .
